LEL has incorporated proven technologies never previously merged into a patented Lockhart Compressor/Turbine for HVAC/R and Carbon Capture. We have designed a shear-flow compressor/turbine powered by a high-speed Permanent Magnet Motor, controlled by a simple proprietary electronic control, all floating on a magnetic-levitation (maglev) bearing system that eliminates bearing friction. This finally enables an ‘old’ technology that has never realized its full potential because of technology unavailable until today. Shear-flow compressors are bladeless, using viscous shear force rather than blade friction to propel liquid or gas. This allows energy-efficient compression when used as a pump, and electricity generation when used as a turbine.
